THE VERB PHILOSOPHY

Architecture begins with action. At Verb, we believe that first action is listening. This means understanding our clients’ visions for their spaces before putting pen to paper. Listening is the catalyst that sparks ideas and transforms your vision into a tangible space, but it doesn’t stop there. Good architecture isn’t static. If we truly understand your goals, your space will speak by the interactions it creates and a design that moves with time. This all begins with listening, and at Verb, we’re all ears.

WHAT VERB DOES

VERB, a full-service architecture firm, offers a dynamic, collaborative suite of services designed to create spaces where the human experience can come to life.

Master Planning

VERB crafts the comprehensive plan for your entire project. We take the entire building, its surroundings, and local ordinances into account as we create the foundation on which your project can stand strong at every stage.

Consulting

VERB’s expertise in design, infrastructure, zoning, codes, and ordinances make us the ideal partner for your architectural, design, and commercial goals.

3D Renderings

VERB puts your ideas and designs into action by creating three-dimensional, lifelike displays of how your space will look and how people will interact with it. We specialize in both still and animated renderings for a variety of commercial projects.

Rion Snowden

Principal
From an early age, Rion knew he wanted to live, work, and learn within the world of architecture. Every step taken since – from his undergraduate and master’s degrees to his 15+ years of experience – was a considered, intentional move toward enhancing human experience in the built environment.

“I have always been interested in designing spaces that facilitate life, interaction, and experience,” Rion said. “Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with clients, contractors, and construction professionals who bring valuable perspectives to the table. The magic really happens in collaboration, when every voice is heard, and the space comes to life to serve the project’s and the people’s best interests.”

Rion says his greatest adventures thus far have been being a husband and a father. An unapologetic family man, Rion and his wife Joy enjoy spending time with their two sons, Ralph and Davis, at their home in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Ethan Hartfield

Director
Ethan Hartfield finds joy in the work and wonder of architecture. “I believe communication is the key to good design,” he said. “You really have to listen and try to understand people in order to design spaces that can impact their lives for the better.”

After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, Ethan worked in an architectural firm for eight years before co-founding VERB. “At VERB, we’re focused on creating an environment where all vested interests have a voice in the design process.”

Ethan and his wife, Ashley, are originally from and currently live in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with their daughter, Thea. He is currently on the path to licensure and pursuing a Master of Architecture at Southern Illinois University.

Scotty Kassel

Project Coordinator
Growing up around commercial construction his entire life, Architecture feels more like a calling to Scotty than a career. “Our clients are putting a lot on the line when they come to us for a project, so I want to deliver something that is understood, beautiful, and functional.”

Scotty, a Madison, MS native, has lived in Hattiesburg since 2015 with his 2 dogs; Kappi and Diablo. When he is not at home or the office, you can find Scotty at his kickboxing gym or at Southern Miss sporting events.

“The opportunities that working at VERB has presented has allowed me to channel my intuitions into helping my team execute the best design possible. I see architecture as the most direct way I can play a role in making the world a little bit better.”
